Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based therapy, designed to help individuals learn new strategies for managing overwhelming emotions and extreme, or black-and-white, ways of thinking.
DBT skills training consists of weekly groups, devoted to teaching new and effective coping skills, to be practiced and utilized in everyday life. The skills are broken down into five main categories, or modules (Linehan, 1993b):
